Partnership between Russian Helicopters Holding and UK-based Caterham Group made start earlier in 2012. Since then parties had implemented a number of mutually beneficial ideas – from promotional events in Russia up to joint international marketing projects with Russian-made helicopters and Caterham F1 cars involved. But it is technological cooperation that plays special role for both companies. It gives a strong basis for further cooperation in fields of composite materials and high technologies.
Russian Helicopters’ specialists regularly visit factories of Caterham Group for constructive meetings. At the first decade of December one more delegation came to the UK, this time it included Russian Helicopters’ CEO Dmitry Petrov. Guests visited Formula One team’s base and Caterham roadcar factory.
Dmitry Petrov met Cyril Abiteboul, new head of Caterham F1 Team, who took his role less than two months ago. During the conversations both Dmitry and Cyril confirmed there are a lot of points for cooperation between two hi-tech industries – motorsport on the one hand and helicopters design and manufacturing on another.
Representatives of Russian Helicopters went to the Great Britain for the probation at Caterham Group with management of large-scale productions. Later after proper consideration all the information may be used for structural improvements of the Russian helicopters’ industry.
Dmitry Petrov, CEO of Russian Helicopters said: “Our visit left good and solid impression. Partnership with Caterham Group develops successfully in 2012. In terms of our agreement we continue to contacts at a number of fields. It concerns latest composite technologies, which are widely used at modern Russian helicopters’ production, and questions of management, where our British colleague has a lot of things to learn from, and other directions.”
Cyril Abiteboul, Team Principal Caterham F1 Team said “We were delighted to welcome the delegation from Russian Helicopters to our factory in Leafield. As a key partner of our team, Russian Helicopters has given us excellent support throughout the 2012 season and it was good to be able to open the doors to our home to them. We had many interesting discussions with our guests, looking at how many similarities there are between our two industries, and exploring areas where we can further develop our partnership in the future. We looked the various processes that make Formula One product development so fast and what lessons Russian Helicopters can take from us. With our business demanding constant focus, it was good for us to spend time opening our minds to different types of problems and how we can solve them and I think that for both parties it was a very interesting visit.”
