On July 14-15th Caterham F1 Team driver Vitaly Petrov took part at the main event of Russian motorsport season, when World Series by Renault went to race on a brand new Moscow Raceway circuit.
His visit to a racetrack, built 80 km from Moscow, became a part of big program by Russian Helicopters Company, aimed to increase the popularity of car racing in Russia. During two days Vitaly was doing demo runs, meeting guests of the event and numerous spectators.
Behind the wheel of green-and-yellow Caterham F1 car he showed the capabilities of Formula One machinery, performing in fast corners and making a lot of smoke with ‘donuts’ near stands.
Vitaly not only drove his car – in pauses between demo runs he communicated with fans, signed numerous autographs, while his guests from Sibur and Russian Helicopters companies, which support Petrov this season, had a rare chance to ride with him around the circuit in a fast Renault Clio RS.
This time Vitaly also invited special guests – a big group from his fun-club as well as winners of special lottery on F1News.RU portal visited Moscow Raceway.
They had a tour to pits, when Petrov himself tell a lot interesting about Formula One and its machinery.
V.Petrov: «I’m very glad Russia has finally obtained its first world-class racing circuit. It is very technical and very good for young drivers, who can train their skills. It is also big pleasure for me to visit World Series by Renault event – many years ago I also started my own professional carrier in Formula Renault 2.0, which is still a part of WSR.
I enjoyed seeing flags and banners on stands and tried my best to make every single spectator happy. My special thanks goes to Russian Helicopters Company, which brought this shining holiday to all my fans”.
