Took part in the GP2 Series for Campos Grand Prix team all season 11 stages (Bahrain, Spain, Monaco, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, Spain).

Vitaly took 13 place overall among 36 participants in the individual competition and won the bronze medal in the team Campos Grand Prix. The best result is a victory in the first race at the last stage on the road Ricardo Torma Valencia. Also got into the points zone at the Monaco Grand Prix — 5 place at the French Grand Prix (Cours track Monya) - 5 th place in race two stages, as well as the Turkish Grand Prix — 5 th place in race two stages.

2008

2009
This year, Vitaly Petrov confidently began the season ranked second in the championship behind his team mate of Barwa Addax Romain Grosjean. After retiring Grosjean in a Formula 1 Renault Team, where he replaced the sacked Pique, Vitaly some time headed the standings. However, he failed to keep the lead and the championship and became vice-champion, behind Nico Hulkenberg.
2010
On January 31, 2010 - it was announced that Vitaly Petrov became the first representative of Russia in the World Cup FIA Formula 1, signed a contract with Renault F1 Team.
After only seven days behind the wheel of Renault R30 in pre-season tests, Vitaly came at the start of his first career Grand Prix - this happened on March 12.

At the April Grand Prix of China, he earned his first points by finishing seventh.
And along the distance Vitaly aheaded in the rain splashes first seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, and then Mark Webber, who spoke at the Red Bull - the best car of the championship.
At the end of May in Turkey Vitaly got to his first top ten start as well in the race showed a record lap time.
Truly a triumph for him was the Hungarian stage. The 25-year-old driver finished his qualification seventh (finally leaving behind his experienced team-mate Robert Kubica), and the race he finished in fifth position.

Well, in sixth place in Abu Dhabi Petrov brought the title of best newcomer Formula 1 2010.

In the overall World Cup, he took 13th place.
2011
Vitaly renewed his contract with the team, which started new season under new name Lotus Renault GP
He began second campaign in Formula One with brilliant result at Australian Grand Prix. Starting sixth, the driver finished third and brought his native Russia first ever podium at FIA World Championship event

During first half of a season Vitaly fought for positions in leaders’ group on regular basis – he scored good points once again under torrential rain in Canada, where finished 5th

Second half of the year turned out to be more complicated, nevertheless Russian scored steadily and outperformed his team-mates – Nick Heidfeld and Bruno Senna
Petrov finished 16 out of 19 races and reached his main target for the season, formed even before first Grand Prix – to climb Top10 of drivers’ classification. He scored 37 points and took 10th position

2012
Vitaly started new season with young and ambitious Team Caterham. They debuted in Formula One in the same day and now looking forward to reach new successes together
